The Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper is set to host a gun control special on Comedy Central, in which the comedian will try to “solve” America’s gun control debate in one hour.
In a Monday press release, Comedy Central announced the special Jordan Klepper Solves Guns will premiere June 11 at 10 p.m. The show will combine comedy, documentary filmmaking and investigative journalism in an effort to try and bridge the gap between gun rights and gun control advocates.
“Over the course of this special, I selflessly let people on all sides of the gun debate be interviewed by me, and I was consistently surprised by how much common ground they shared,” said Klepper. “This special isn’t just about America’s relationship with guns — it’s about how needlessly toxic the debate around that issue has become. Also, doing my part to bring the country together, I show my ass on television.”
Included in the special will be conversations Klepper had with gun rights advocates at the recent National Rifle Association convention in Atlanta and a chat with members of the Georgia Security Force Militia.
The host will also be shown training with former Army Special Ops soldier Pat McNamara, conversing with Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., and NRA lobbyist Reichard Feldman, and also spending some quiet time with “Midwestern moderate gun owners,” such as Klepper’s cousin Pete.
The special will be available to stream on cc.com and the Comedy Central App on June 12, and an uncensored version will be available to download on June 13.
Klepper joined the Daily Show in 2014, during Jon Stewart’s tenure, and has continued on with Trevor Noah as the host.
