USA – -(Ammoland.com)- “College students in Brooklyn are about do to something the National Rifle Association has refused to — build a smart gun,” a purported “news report” by the New York Daily News proclaims in what it’s labeled an “Exclusive.” Right off the bat, and unsurprisingly to anyone familiar with how the rag compulsively lies about guns, they start off with a misdirecting falsehood.
The NRA isn’t a gun company. Everybody knows that. Except, evidently, the ace “reporters” at the Daily News with all those resources at their fingertips…
Thing is, the information is readily available to anyone with an internet connection. That “Authorized Journalists” Jennifer Fermino and Thomas Tracy should so totally miss the truth so early in their hit piece makes it fair to wonder if they’re shameless liars, ignorant, lazy, unethical, desperate to keep their jobs, or all of the above. What’s clear is, neither of these hireling flacks show any regard for canons of journalism, and appear to have resigned themselves to making “self-aware propagandist” their professional legacy (which is pretty pathetic if you think about it).
“We want to do something the NRA has prevented gun manufacturers from doing,” Borough President Eric Adams chimed in, with a lie of his own that Fermino and Tracy were happy to just parrot, rather than verify so they could show their readers enough respect to present them with the truth. Seriously, it took two people to write this dreck? And they had the gall to claim exclusivity?
Again, anyone with an internet connection and literally a few seconds can enter “NRA position on smart guns” into a search engine and discover on the first hit:
The NRA doesn’t oppose the development of “smart” guns, nor the ability of Americans to voluntarily acquire them. However, NRA opposes any law prohibiting Americans from acquiring or possessing firearms that don’t possess “smart” gun technology.
The blame falls squarely on the gun-grabbers that they’ve tried to manipulate the law to do just that. Pretty shallow trick, really, create objectionable conditions and then get all self-righteous and indignant when people you intended to provoke object.
Adams, as a retired “Only One,” doesn’t need to worry about trusting his precious hind quarters to the technological glitches that result in garage door and television remotes not working when you need them to. That’s reserved for his constituents (and ultimately for you and me), assuming the city would issue permits to the proletariat to purchase “smart guns” in the first place. Come to think of it, perhaps anyone who would give this guy political power over their lives is too incompetent to be trusted with a gun – not to mention a ballot.
And note all Adams is doing, besides squandering $1M that’s not his to promote his image in the press as a “community leader,” is using his storied influence to get NYPD range officers to test whatever contraption the Brooklyn college students come up with. It’s all just political theatrics anyway. Does anyone seriously think Liberty Lynchin’ Patrick of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association is going to let these things be forced on his membership for street use?
“The NRA didn’t respond to requests for comment,” the Fermino/Tracy tag team added, just to try to make it look like they were being fair and responsible. Considering the tenor of past “reporting,” it’s pretty obvious why no one is interested in having anything to do with the Daily News.
The bright side to all this is that the only people who will be taken in are those ignorant enough to vote for Adams or pay for the Daily News. According to all indicators, those latter numbers are shrinking, resulting in well-earned “downsizing.” Still, working against the truth, until such time as the company sucks itself out of existence, will be the desperation of those who haven’t yet been thrown out.
That means the remaining hacks pretending to be reporters must continue satisfying publisher Mortimer B. Zuckerman’s pathological anti-gun obsession. Because once the bell tolls for them, they’ll be forced to compete for a position in a shrinking, cutthroat job market at a time when more and more people are saying to hell with the establishment press. Either that or (gulp) find honest work for a change.
