More than 4,000 pounds of marijuana was discovered by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations at the Pharr International Bridge in Texas over the weekend.
The 4,064 pounds of pot was wrapped in 528 separate packages and discovered inside a tractor-trailer hauling a commercial shipment of limes. The marijuana, which was found with assistance from a canine team, has an estimated value of $812,836.
“Our CBP officers at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility continue making substantial seizures as a result of their dedication and vigilance to the CBP mission,” said Port Director Efrain Solis Jr., Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.
The case is under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security.
