USA –-(Ammoland.com)- WFMJ TV 21 (Mike Gauntner) reports 06-25-19 in Warren, Ohio a clerk working the counter at the Pit Stop on Youngstown Road SE told police that a man with a gun began crawling through the drive-through window just before midnight. Midnight is closing time.
Police say surveillance video shows the suspect pulling a gun out of his waistband before lifting the window.
The clerk pulled his own gun from under the register and fired a shot. The clerk told media he fired the shot “just to scare” him. That certainly worked as the suspect immediately fled.
Police say the suspect could be seen running toward Kenilworth Avenue. Officers brought in a K9 to help track the suspect, but couldn’t locate him.
According to media, the police report says “the clerk fired a shot in his direction”.
Comments:
Crawling through the drive-up window, a new approach to attacking a closed fast food joint. The police report showing the clerk firing at the intruder confuses his “just to scare him” claim.
This is an example of the reason not to make statements until you have a lawyer present even if you are sure you are right. Your mental state after a violent incident will always be muddled.
