Conservation Group to Hold Organizational Meeting in New Martinsville VA
West Virginia – -(OutDoorWire.com)- The Ohio River Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS) will host a chapter organizational meeting on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the Quinet’s Court Restaurant, 217 Main Street, New Martinsville, West Virginia, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
According to RGS regional director Lisa Rossi the purpose of the meeting is to discuss the reorganization of this once robust chapter. “Since its inception in 1961, RGS has been the leading conservation organization in the restoration and improvement of upland wildlife habitat – habitat that not only benefits ruffed grouse and woodcock, but 43 species of neo-tropical songbirds, deer, rabbits, as well as many other wildlife species.
“Many of those restoration projects was accomplished through the organized efforts of RGS chapters, and the dedicated chapter members who identified problem areas, and brought them to the attention of our wildlife biologist,” Rossi said.
