A confrontation between two young men and a homeowner and his wife resulted with one of the suspects being shot multiple times after he refused to leave the homeowner’s property in the Foxwood area of Harris County, Texas.
A local NBC affiliate reported that the man and his wife had just returned home at about 7:30 Tuesday night and while still in their driveway, the couple was approached by two males.
Some sort of confrontation occurred, but the men eventually just left. However, a few minutes later they returned to the same house and, according to the couple, began to act in a threatening manner.
The homeowner asked the men to leave several times, but they refused. Then, at some point, one of the men reached towards his waistband and the homeowner, fearing the man was armed, grabbed his gun from his car and shot the man.
As shots were fired, the second suspect immediately fled from the scene.
When deputies arrived a short time later, they found a 23-year-old black male sitting down in front of the house where the altercation occurred with multiple gunshot wounds.
The suspect was airlifted to the hospital and treated for his injuries, which are believed to be non-life threatening.
According to Lieutenant David Escober of the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, “This case is still under investigation and there are a lot of pieces to the puzzle that we need to put together on what happened.”
The Constable’s Office is working with other local law enforcement agencies which have been involved in the investigation.
At this point no charges have been filed – against either party – but ultimately the case will likely be referred to a grand jury for any possible charges once the investigation is completed.
The identities of all involved parties are currently being withheld.
