A 29-year-old man died on Christmas day from injuries he sustained while he and two accomplices were attempting to rob a condom machine in Schoeppingen, Germany, by blowing it up.
The two men brought their wounded friend to the hospital initially claiming he was injured when he fell down a flight of stairs. The men later admitted to blowing up the condom machine because they wanted to steal the cash inside, but when a shard of metal struck the man in the head, they quickly fled from the scene, leaving the cash – and condoms – behind.
Hospital personnel attempted to revive the injured man, but their efforts failed and he died as a result of the injuries he sustained during the blast.
