Universal Pictures announced Friday what Task & Purpose dubbed “the best news so far of 2017.” Apparently, a remake of the movie “Scarface” is in the works.
Yes, that’s right.
The remake of the 1983 film – which is actually a remake of a 1932 film of the same name – is due to hit theaters August 10, 2018. The Coen brothers (“No Country For Old Men,” “True Grit,” “The Big Lebowski”) have reportedly been tasked to rework the script, but the studio is still looking to fill the director’s seat, which could possibly be filled by Peter Berg (“Lone Survivor”).
There’s also a rumor floating around that Antonio “Tony” Montana will be played by Diego Luna of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Luna definitely has the look but also has some pretty big shoes to fill coming in behind Al Pacino.
