Eagle Police Chief Joey Staufer and his wife got quite a surprise when the two delivered their first-born child on the side of the interstate early Tuesday morning.
Chief Staufer placed a 911 call around 2:00 a.m. and the dispatcher, Kelly Klein, walked the chief through the roadside delivery of his daughter and the tense, yet joyous moment was captured on audio.
Paramedics arrived on the scene just minutes after the baby was born. Mom and baby – along with dad – are all said to be doing just fine.
Klein has been awarded a “pink stork ribbon” for the role he played in delivering the chief’s daughter.
