New Berlin, Wis. –-(Ammoland.com)-  Day in and day out Atlanta Braves’ third baseman Chipper Jones successfully matches wits with the best pitchers in baseball – however; this week on Major League Bowhunter; Jones faces off with a monster buck on Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for the American sportsman.

Whitetail hunters across America will not want to miss the back and forth action as Jones makes the most of his hunt in Oklahoma on Major League Bowhunter. Watch this incredible bow hunt on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 9:30 p.m. EST.

The calendar said early October, but the weather felt more like summer as the temperatures soared into the low 90’s in Northwest Oklahoma. For the first time, Major League Bowhunter is embarking on new hunting territory as they explore 25,000 acres near the Beaver River. Not far removed from a full season of baseball in the rearview mirror, Chipper Jones decided to join co-hosts Jeff Danker and Matt Duff in search of the elusive whitetail. On day one, the third baseman saw a big buck only to walk away a little short. The miss did not deter him as sheer patience and determination paid off on day three of this incredible hunt.

“After going back and forth with ‘splitter’, he finally came back into range and I didn’t miss this golden opportunity,” said Chipper Jones, Co-host of Major League Bowhunter. “’Splitter’ is a baseball term that we gave this buck because of his big tines and how they split near the top. The buck scores 145 inches and his spread is 17 inches – after he was field dressed, he weighed 185 pounds. It’s my second bow harvest in Oklahoma and it’s a great feeling as it took a lot of perseverance to harvest this beast.”

The area had seen a major drought which meant there was not a great deal of green vegetation; which played into the favor of Jones. He never had to move his stand as he used the river to his advantage and ultimately made the most of his opportunity.
