Chicago weekend shootings leave 3 dead and 29 wounded

The violence continued in Chicago over the weekend, with three people killed and 29 wounded in shootings across the city between Friday afternoon and Monday morning.

As reported by the Chicago Sun Times Media Wire, the shootings included the murder of 14-year-old Laquan Allen in the west side Austin neighborhood. Allen was standing on the sidewalk Saturday when shots were fired from a passing vehicle. The teenager suffered a gunshot wound to the buttocks and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Another victim, 30-year-old Tanisha Jackson, was killed when two groups started to argue and two males opened fire, hitting Jackson multiple times. Jackson was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, and two others were injured in the incident as well.

The weekend’s first fatality occurred when 20-year-old Tomorry Hill was shot and killed in a drive by shooting on Friday afternoon in the south side West Englewood neighborhood.

According to the Chicago Tribune, 698 people have been shot in Chicago in 2017, and a total of 130 people have been killed.
