You say you have a bunch of surplus AK mags but would really dig one that allowed a bit more of a brassy view than your typical witness holes? Well, we have you covered.
A mod by Bad-Element from over at the AK Files Forum, this ode to North-West Frontier cottage gunsmithy is a little different.
I cut this mag today. Used Arabic numerals and the arrow is gauged to the actual round count when loaded. I like it, but I love the lighting today! These photos are all from my iPhone and ambient light from smokey clouds filtering the sun. I played with a bounce a white canvas/gesso board but in the right conditions it made no difference/benefit. This mag is like a Khyber round counter I guess, and I’ve been dreaming it up for a year and a bud/customer of mine sent it in and said just do anything with it pretty much. Here we the pics:
BTW, the arrow is made from the follower, painted gold, and Bad Element is modding them out for $30 on supplied mags. Of course, they aren’t really meant for tactical use, more of a tacticool type of thing with a Southwest Asia flave, but still kinda cool.
He is also working on Bakelite too…
