Fort Worth, Texas, USA –-(Ammoland.com)- In the Open division, Cheaper Than Dirt!’s Jerry Miculek defended his crown, holding off SureFire’s Michael Voigt by virtue of tiebreaker. Per 3GN rules, a tiebreaker determined the Open race and overall division wins.
Jerry Miculek edged Voigt five match wins to four. However, this does not diminish Miculek’s victory and was far from a technical win when you factor in that Miculek also won the head-to-head matchup, which would have been the second tiebreaker if needed.
Cheaper Than Dirt! sponsored shooter Clint Upchurch won the 3GN Open Division in 2011, followed by Miculek last season.
Not surprisingly, Voigt has been second each season, and while he’s come up short in the Divisionals, Voigt has out-performed both Upchurch and Miculek in the 3GN Shoot-Off. Meanwhile, Upchurch holds the edge on 3GN Pro Series match finishes during the regular season.
Any way you cut it, Miculek, Voigt and Upchurch remain the top three in competitors in the Open division, be it Outlaw or 3GN Pro Series formats.
