California Governor Proposes $5 million Cut to Hunting and Fishing Programs
Sacramento, CA – -(AmmoLand.com)- Today, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger released his proposed FY 2010/2011 state budget, which seeks to close a massive $21 billion dollar deficit.
To help bridge the budget shortfall, Governor Schwarzenegger is proposing to raid hunting and fishing program funding by $5 million dollars.
The Governor’s budget summary did not provide any detail on where the cuts to these programs would be made and/or how they would affect hunters and anglers.
The Governor’s budget proposal must now go to the State Legislature for consideration, with the intention being for the Governor and the Legislature to reach agreement on the final budget by the beginning of the new state fiscal year on July 1st, 2010. California Outdoor Heritage Alliance (COHA) staff will be actively engaged throughout the Legislature’s review of the budget package to minimize cuts to these important programs.
