Kashkari tells CAL-FFL he’d veto gun control bills.
California –-(Ammoland.com)- Following a number of Twitter and Facebook posts by CAL-FFL and its supporters earlier today, California gubernatorial candidate Neel Kashkari told the association that he “would veto” the four gun control bills on Governor Jerry Brown’s desk.
In a February presentation to students at Cal State Sacramento, Mr. Kashkari made perplexing statements on the polarizing topic of gun laws, comments that the gun rights community largely viewed as “uneducated.” As reported by CalNewsroom.com’s John Hrabe, Kashkari’s follow-up comments to gun rights supporters “caused a firestorm…among California’s grassroots gun activists.”
But CAL-FFL President Brandon Combs says that Kashkari’s apparently hard-line stance against the gun bills passed by the Legislature this year is a change for the better.
“Neel Kashkari’s views on Second Amendment civil rights has been a trying experience for us, to say the least,” noted Combs. “However, we’re certainly encouraged by his new position and welcome the move towards embracing fundamental individual liberties. Perhaps Mr. Kashkari took my advice after all.”
All four bills — SB 808, AB 1014, AB 1609, and SB 199 — will become state law unless Governor Brown vetoes them before the end of this month.
