Dunlow, WV -(Ammoland.com)- Four county names blended creates a tongue twister for one of West Virginia’s often overlooked vacation destinations: Cabwaylingo State Forest near Dunlow in Wayne County.
Four area counties, Cabell, Wayne, Lincoln and Mingo create this unique forest’s name. This summer, a special cabin rental rate makes it harder to overlook this vacation opportunity.
Cabwaylingo is taking reservations for a special summer vacation rate for weeklong stays. Visitors who make reservations for seven consecutive nights will only pay for the first four nights and the remaining nights’ fees are waived. The “linger longer” summer special is available from July 9 through Sept. 16, 2014. Cabins sizes and rates are posted on the forest website at Cabwaylingo.
The forest features 14 CCC era cabins, camping sites, the McClintic group camp, swimming pool, picnic areas, game courts, hiking and fishing.
“For a family looking for traditional vacation activities and a location removed from life’s fast pace, this 8,123 acre forest fills that need,” said Stuart Peters, forest superintendent. “The cabin rates are reasonable and any family can enjoy a nice summer vacation here. If you like the outdoors and being together with family and friends, Cabwaylingo is a great setting.”
Cabins at Cabwaylingo State Forest are traditional and serve the public today as they did when built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, from mid-April through late October. There are 14-cabins with kitchens, cooking utensils, beddings and linens, and firewood for cooler evenings.
