CA woman, range instructor arrested after sniping woman’s husband (VIDEO)

A California woman engaged in a custody battle with her estranged husband is facing charges after she enlisted the help of her range instructor to kill the man.

Diana Lovejoy, 43, took shooting lessons from Weldon McDavid, Jr., 49, who was employed at Iron Sights shooting range in Oceanside. Authorities say Lovejoy and McDavid planned an ambush for a month before its attempted – and failed – execution on Sept. 1.

Lovejoy made arrangements for a late-night meeting with her husband, but McDavid was hiding in some nearby bushes and shot Lovejoy’s husband in what was described as an ambush-style shooting.

Police were called just after 11 p.m. and Lovejoy’s husband was rushed to a hospital. He survived and both Lovejoy and McDavid were captured. Each face charges for attempted murder and conspiracy and are being held on a $2 million bond.

If convicted, Lovejoy faces 25 years to life in prison, while McDavid faces 50 years to life because he’s the one who pulled the trigger.
