MISSOULA, Mont. – -(Ammoland.com)- Ryan Busse has been elected chairman of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers’ national board of directors, further advancing a life and career spent in the service of sportsmen’s values.

Busse, vice president of sales for Kimber, was unanimously chosen to lead the BHA national board at the group’s 2016 North American Rendezvous, which took place in April in Missoula, Montana.

BHA President and CEO Land Tawney commended the board’s decision.

“Anyone who has met Ryan knows that he is a force of nature,” said Tawney. “Whether chasing high mountain trout, wily wapiti or cagey sharptails, Ryan spends every extra moment outdoors. He approaches conservation with the same tenacity. His commitment to the backcountry couldn’t be stronger, and his knowledge of how to move the political needle is invaluable. At this critical moment for BHA, I can’t think of a better fit for chairman of our national board.”

Busse has served numerous boards in leadership roles and is a recognized leader in the shooting sports industry. His career in the outdoors field spans a quarter century, and he has been affiliated with Kimber, one of the most powerful brands in shooting sports, for 20 years.

Raised on a ranch in western Kansas, Busse was exploring the backcountry of the state’s vast unbroken native prairies by the time he could walk and carry a lever action. Busse loves to hike small streams with a fly rod, bird hunt behind his prized dogs and pursue big game with rifles he helped design. He spends every available moment in the western backcountry from Alaska to Arizona but considers the Rocky Mountain Front of Montana his sacred home. His family includes wife Sara and sons Lander and Badge.

“I am honored with the opportunity to serve Backcountry Hunters & Anglers in a leadership capacity,” said Busse. “It’s a responsibility I do not take lightly. This group and its members humble me with their dedication and passion for hunting, fishing and conservation.”
