Having a cell phone accidentally dial when placed in a pocket is a real hassle, but a 42-year-old man from Elizabeth, New Jersey, learned that other times it can be much more than a hassle and actually hinder your criminal activity.
At least that is what happened to Scott Esser when he inadvertently dialed 911 on the cell phone in his pocket while discussing plans to commit a burglary. Dispatchers were able to listen in on the ploy, but initially could not hone in on the phone’s location.
No matter, authorities later learned the cell phone belonged to Esser and when he unlawfully entered a Stafford home, he was promptly arrested and now faces charged for several area burglaries.
