It wasn’t exactly a shotgun wedding, but a 25-year-old bride spent her wedding night in jail after pulling a gun on her newly wedded husband outside of a Murfreesboro, Tennessee, hotel.
“Responding officers let the husband know the honeymoon was over and his new wife was going to jail,” said Sgt. Kyle Evans with the Murfreesboro Police Department.
According to witnesses, Kate Elizabeth Prichard and her newly wedded husband were arguing outside of the Clarion Inn after exchanging their vows. In the midst of the argument, Prichard made a move that shocked everyone.
“She pulled out of her wedding dress a 9mm pistol. Pointed it at her new husband’s head and pulled the trigger,” Evans said.
The gun apparently wasn’t loaded, so Prichard’s husband wasn’t injured. However, the bride pulled a bullet out of her dress, loaded the gun, then fired a round into the air, which sent everyone fleeing.
No one was injured, but Evans said both Prichard, who tried to hide the gun in a bathroom, and her husband were “very uncooperative with authorities.”
Prichard was arrested on charges of aggravated domestic assault but has since bee released from jail after posting a $15,000 bond.
