USA – -(Ammoland.com)- Debating bow sights is always a fun conversation. The the quality and durability of bow sight manufacturing nowadays has the top brands neck and neck with each other.
The name of the game is simplicity, durability and visibility. Here are my pick of the best bow sights.
Spot Hogg Real Deal Bow Sights
There is a good reason Spott Hogg Gear stretches the wallet. I will use the phrase “Machined well” many times throughout this article to describe the quality of the metal used. When I picked up this sight at he 2015 ATA show, the quality of the aluminum and the machining was detailed. As I tested Spott Hogg Bow Sights over the summer, I really loved the fiber optic quality, and their customer service was fantastic. The pin size was a bit too big, so they swapped out the pins for a smaller size no questions asked. The Spott Hogg Real Deal Bow Sight is a rugged sight and held up well to abuse of the West on my recent Elk hunting trip.
But what I wasn’t a huge fan of was how you must adjust your pins. Not the housing, but individual pins. It’s a bit complicated with the use of small screws and allen wrenches. I found it a bit frustrating when I had to put space in between each pin.
Other wise, the Spott Hogg Bow Sights are a solid sight which helped me kill my first elk. Quality and durability.
HHA Optimizer Lite Ultra Bow Sights
I love my HHA Optimizer Lite Ultra Bow Sights . The Optimizer helped me kill my best buck ever, a 150 class 11 point, in New York several years ago. I remember being skeptical on shooting a single pin sight, but it grew on me.
Description: The HHA Optimizer Lite Ultra Bow Sight is the premier single pin adjustment sight. The R.D.S. technology provides to the yard accuracy from 20 to 80 yards with a quick turn of the dial.
Again, the machining is top notch and it is a fairly easy sight to dial in. Just remember to shoot the practice tapes until you are 100% confident you have found the right yardages to put the hunting tapes on. A word of warning though, be careful when going through brush, you don’t want sticks ripping the tape.
Trophy Ridge React One Bow Sights
Manufacturers have been working steadily towards easier and faster dialing in. The Trophy Ridge React 1 Series of bow sights is built from aluminum and is available in a single pin, a three pin and a five pin option. React Technology is simple, sight your 20 yard pin and one other pin at a further distance, and all other pins will mathematically be sighted in. If you are in need of shooting long distances like often encountered out West, the speed of dialing in and the ability to have multiple options may be a feasible option for you.
Copper John TST Bow Sights
This sight looks a bit crazy, but when you think about the Torque Synchronization Technology, you realize they were on to something.
It is true, everyone has and will torque their bow. Our bodies have a natural tendency to want to tense up and torque the bow at the moment of truth. This pushes the arrows off course.
The Copper John TST Bow Sights basically has a reversed sight, the housing is sitting back towards you over the riser. This sight helps your bow adjust to any torquing you might do and stay on target, especially in tough angle positions.
Trophy Taker Option 6 Bow Site
I like the idea of having a sight you can use either multiple pins or just have one single pin. For a guy like me who hunts Whitetails most of the time with an annual Western trek, this sight would be a great option. The Trophy Taker Option 6 has five fixed pins and one movable pin. “Magnets hold the fixed pin guard in the open or closed position.” This is functionality at its finest.
Bow sights are unique to you and your needs. Choose wisely, try to shoot as many as you can at your local pro shop to find what works best for you.
