A Jamaican woman was arrested last week after she unsuccessfully attempted to smuggle cocaine-laced coffee through New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Sherese Lee Ann Drake was traveling from Montego Bay, Jamaica, when U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered plastic bags with a white substance inside two bags of coffee. Cocaine tests came up positive for the substance. Altogether, officers seized about three pounds of blow, with an estimated street value of over $50,000.

Drake now faces charges for narcotics smuggling.

“This seizure is another example of our CBP officers being ever vigilant in protecting the United States from the distribution of illicit drugs,” said Robert E. Perez, Director of CBP’s New York Field Operations.
