A bomber in Dublin, Ireland, was caught in his own bomb blast Sunday and one possible theory is he forgot about Daylight Savings Time.
The bomber attached an explosive device to a Volvo SUV belonging to a local businessman. The bomb detonated and the suspect was caught in its blast. He was seen fleeing the scene “dripping in blood.” Some believe the device was set on a timer and the bomber failed to take into account the time change resulting from Daylight Savings Time, Mirror reports.
“This certainly was a high-grade explosive,” a source told the Mirror. “It would appear that the bomber got his timings wrong. It could be a case where he didn’t put his watch forward on Sunday [at 1am] and the timer went off too soon. However, it is more likely he didn’t realize just how powerful the explosives would be. If anyone had been in the car or walking near it at the time then they would have been killed.”
Irish police are still investigating to determine if the suspect got his timing wrong.
No one was injured in the blast besides the bomber, who took a taxi to the Mater Hospital. The intended victim has declined to comment.
