Firearms manufacturer Beretta announced it could begin some operations at its new plant in Tennessee as early as September.
Workers at the gunmaker’s Maryland factory should start start shutting down some of its machinery next week and will likely remain operational through the first quarter of 2016, the Tennessean reported.
“We’ve never done something like this,” said board member Jeff Reh. “It’s incredibly complicated, but we’re still looking at November as a go-live date for some of the manufacturing operations (in Gallatin).”
Beretta in 2013 announced plans to make the move following the signing of a law in Maryland that restricts the number of rounds in a magazine to 10.
