Bass Pro Opens Canada Store with Evening for Conservation and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Celebration features celebrity appearances, exhibit booths, and giveaways. Conservation groups to benefit from opening night event.

Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Ca -(Ammoland.com)- The grand opening of the Bass Pro Shops Outpost in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario kicks off Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 6 p.m.

The event features an all-star cast of celebrities from the world of sports, entertainment and the great outdoors who will join together to help Bass Pro Shops celebrate a spectacular Evening for Conservation. The grand opening event will continue through Sunday, Nov. 23 with interactive vendor exhibits and giveaways.

The event is free and open to the public.

Celebrities scheduled to appear and sign autographs Nov. 19, from approximately 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. include:

  • Dave Mercer, host of “Facts of Fishing” television show, and Bassmaster Elite Series emcee.
  • Kevin and Paul Beasley, co-hosts of “Canada in the Rough” television show.
  • Wendel Clark, former captain for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
  • Owen Nolan, former NHL player and host of “Sportsman 360 TV” show.
  • Lance Thornton, RedHead pro hunting team member, and U.S.A. Para Archery national team member.
  • Theresa Vail, SHE Outdoors pro staff member, and host of the upcoming Outdoor Channel television show, “Limitless with Theresa Vail.”
  • Luke Snyder, former PBR World Finals champion and PBR 2012 Last Cowboy Standing champion.
  • Rob Keck, RedHead pro hunting team member and host of “Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World” radio show.

Legendary angler and television host Jimmy Houston of “Jimmy Houston Outdoors” will serve as emcee for the event.

Exciting displays throughout the opening include the RCR’s No. 3 NASCAR Nationwide Series Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet Camaro. Customers can experience the Toyota “Ride ‘n Drive” available Saturday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, November 23 until 4 p.m.

Located at 300 Taylor Road in Niagara-on-the-Lake, the new 81,250 square-foot Bass Pro Shops Outpost is the anchor for The Outlet Collection at Niagara—a 480,000-square-foot shopping center under construction by Ivanhoé Cambridge at the intersection of Queen Elizabeth Way and Homer Road.

The store will officially open its doors for a preview celebration during the fundraising event and ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

For every dollar spent during the Evening for Conservation, 50 cents will be donated to the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, Ducks Unlimited Canada, Trout Unlimited Canada, National Wild Turkey Federation of Canada, and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation of Canada. Matching donation sponsors for the evening include Toyota Motor Sales and Johnny Morris Conservation Creel of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.

Local conservation groups and agencies on hand Wednesday evening will include Heartland Forest, Pheasants Forever, Trout Unlimited Canada, and Long Point Waterfowl.

Bass Pro Shops, named as one of the “Top 10 Hottest Brands in America” by Advertising Age magazine, will continue to celebrate its 70th store’s grand opening Thursday, Nov. 20 through Sunday, Nov. 23. The store will open at 8 a.m. Thursday and at 9 a.m. (normal opening hours) Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.

The celebration includes special exhibits, storewide savings on a huge assortment of products, and fantastic giveaways.

Experts on fishing, hunting, boating and more will be available to talk with customers. Factory representatives from the industry’s top manufacturers will be on hand to answer new product questions. In addition, visitors can meet Shawn Michaels and Keith Mark, co-hosts of “MacMillan River Adventures” television show on the Outdoor Channel, Friday, Oct. 21, from 4-6 p.m. Sponsored by Rocky Boots, Michaels and Mark will be signing autographs in the shoe department at Bass Pro Shops Outpost.

  • Thursday, Nov. 20 – First 200 customers 18 years of age or older will receive a Bass Pro Shops gift card ranging in value from $5 to $100 in a logo tin.
  • Friday, Nov. 21 – First 200 customers will receive a Columbia Omni-Heat beanie.
  • Saturday, Nov. 22 – First 200 customers will receive a Bass Pro Shops logo lure.
  • Sunday, Nov. 23 – First 200 customers will receive a Bass Pro Shops Tervis Tumbler.

Visitors can also register to win a $50, $100, or $200 Bass Pro Shops gift card to be given away after the event.

Another special feature during the Evening for Conservation will be a special preview of the Santa’s Wonderland event. Santa is scheduled to arrive after the ribbon-cutting ceremony and kick off the season by unveiling the magical Christmas village inside the store. Kids can get a free photo with Santa, and the first 125 kids to visit will receive a free woodland character backpack clip.

The store offers the area’s largest selection of quality gear for fishing, hunting, camping, boating and marine. Bass Pro Shops also offers equipment for hiking, backpacking, outdoor cooking and more. Shoppers will find outdoor apparel for men, women and children along with a selection of outdoor, casual and athletic footwear.
