McAllen, TX -(Ammoland.com)- The Arizona Game and Fish Department’s video production staff has won five “Excellence in Craft” awards from the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA).
The awards, in the “Television/Video/Webcast” contest, were presented at OWAA’s 87th annual conference, May 23-25, in McAllen, Texas.
Game and Fish staff receiving awards are:
Conservation or Nature Category
- First Place: Ben Avechuco, “Quagga Mussel Invasion.” View the video.

Fishing Category

Hunting or Shooting Sports Category

OWAA is a nonprofit, international organization that represents a diverse group of professional communicators (writers, editors, photographers, film/video producers and more) dedicated to sharing the outdoor experience. They inform the public about outdoor activities, issues and the responsible use of our natural resources. The Arizona Game and Fish Department video production staff produces the Department’s Emmy-award-winning television show, Arizona Wildlife Views, along with other video segments on a variety of outdoor topics. The final first-run show of this season on KAET-TV (PBS 8) will air at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10. The show also airs at various times on numerous cable television outlets around Arizona.
