The Atlanta Police Department along with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration executed simultaneous search warrants of two houses in the southwest part of the city last week and discovered a fully operational meth lab which broke the record for the largest drug raid in the city’s history.
Deputy Chief of Criminal Investigations Darryl Tolleson said authorities found methamphetamine in various stages of production. Altogether, they seized 41 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and 50 gallons of the drug in liquid form, which when converted to the crystal form would yield about 250 pounds. Officers also confiscated over $35,000 in cash, a 9mm handgun and three vehicles.
Tolleson praised the hard work and dedication of those who helped to keep the dangerous drugs off of the street.
“This is a major win for our city,” Atlanta police chief George Turner agreed.
