ATF at the 2009 Firearms Importers Conference
Washington, DC –-(AmmoLand.com)- The Office of Enforcement Programs and Services (EPS) hosted its eighth annual ATF Importer’s Conference in Washington, DC, on August 10 and 11, 2009. The conference was attended by approximately 250 Federally licensed importers and other members of the firearms import community.
Acting Director Kenneth Melson gave the opening presentation and was followed by remarks from EPS’s Assistant Director Carson Carroll and Deputy Assistant Director Audrey Stucko. Presentations were made by FO’s Acting AD Mark Chait, Firearms and Explosives Services Division, Firearms Programs Division, and Office of Field Operations staff. In addition, presentations were given by Customs and Border Protection; the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, Department of State; and the Bureau of Industrial Security, Department of Commerce.
The conference results from ATF’s partnership with the FireArms Import/Export Roundtable Trade Group (FAIR) and is intended to allow the industry to interact with and receive information from ATF and other Federal agencies.
The conference was coordinated by Erica Reid and Lee Alston-Williams of the Firearms and Explosives Services Division.
