Bethesda, MD –“Gun control proponents say they want to make life safer than it is, but their proposals will not bring about a reduction in murder and other violent crime,” Snyder notes.
“Significant studies do not show that gun control is an effective crime control measure. Studies by scholars like John Lott and Gary Kleck show that guns are used to thwart crime more often than they are used to commit crime. They show also that public policies facilitating firearms acquisition and carrying by law-aiding citizens corresponds with reductions in rates of murder and other violent crime.”
“What gun control really does is undermine the ability of people who obey the law to get the guns they want to fight for their own lives and the lives of their families and other loved ones against violent private and public criminals,” Snyder asserts.
“In a similar way,” Snyder writes, “abortion promoters argue that killing unborn babies somehow will make life more agreeable for the public at large. They argue abortion respects the rights of women even though in reality there is no such thing as a right to kill the innocent. There is no such thing as a ‘right’ to commit murder.
“Abortionists may think and argue they’re protecting a right but in reality promote the murder of the most defenseless human beings.”
Snyder says, “Abortion and gun control promoters both maintain they’re protecting people but in reality are doing them in, by rendering them defenseless in the face of murderers through gun control and legalizing the murder of the defenseless through abortion.”
“The highest profile promoter of both gun control and abortion in the United States today is President Barack Obama.” Snyder maintains. “In the White House itself, he flips the culture of death coin, gun control on one side and abortion on the other. He surrounds himself with children as he argues for gun control even though his proposals cannot protect children from crazed murderers. Then he castigates publicly right-to-lifers for working to eliminate the murder of unborn children.”
“Unfortunately,” said Snyder, “a number of clergymen, including high-ranking church officials, who ought to know better, apparently are ready to follow this Pied Piper over the gun control cliff. May the Lord protect usfrom wretched public and ecclesiastical officials.
“We need two sides of another coin – a life rights and gun rights coin.”
