AR-15 Podcast 093 – Building an AR for When SHTF

DeKalb, Illinois – -(Ammoland.com)- The standard crew for the AR-15 Podcast host a roundtable discussion on a popular topic–building an AR for when everything goes haywire and the world starts crumbling. How does it stack up to other options? What should you acquire if that’s the purpose of your black rifle?

The panel begins by exploring the common SHTF scenarios: regional conflicts, conventional warfare on American soil, breakdown due to external threat such as pandemic, natural disasters, and of course–zombies. From the scenario driven wide scope, the discussion narrows to explore some of the unique situational challenges of each “what if” scenario.

Another common question discussed is what configuration to have your AR in for whichever scenario you’re preparing for? Would it be better to have a bare bones, stock rifle? Or perhaps one configured for tactical operations? Does it matter where you live? Is keeping a low profile a preferable option to advertising that you’re armed?

No discussion of a SHTF scenario would be complete without a thorough discussion of durability and precision. The panel includes competitors as well as combat veterans who weigh in on the pros and cons of high performance gear vs. rough and tumble stock equipment, and how it relates to an envisioned scenario where the rule of law is suspended.
