AmmoToGo.com customer notice: change your passwords

AmmoToGo.com got hacked. This unfortunate news is a frustrating reality that can come to pass with businesses small and large but fortunately, very little harm was done.

If you’re an AmmoToGo.com customer your credit card information was not accessed. In fact, the company said in last week’s announcement that it doesn’t even keep that information to make it impossible for it to be stolen in the first place.

However, some things were accessed. A portion of AmmoToGo.com’s list of customer email addresses was pilfered along with potentially their passwords.

If you have made a purchase from AmmoToGo.com and you use a common password with them, you need to change it for your personal security.

Email lists are sold on black markets and this could mean spam for some, but the important thing for AmmoToGo.com users is to get those passwords changed.

AmmoToGo.com has stated that these email addresses were stolen and they do not trade in customer information.

Furthermore AmmoToGo.com is confident that only the email and password list was breached. No other customer information, such as driver’s licenses, firearms licenses or any other information pertaining to government IDs was taken.

AmmoToGo.com is a growing business and they have re-launched its website on a “more secure and restricted platform that uses secure encryption, that is actively monitored against brute force attacks, that is protected by an intrusion prevention system and that is pro-actively audited quarterly by a PCI compliance monitor,” in their notice.

While this may shake the confidence some people have with AmmoToGo.com, not just every company steps forward when their servers are affected by these attacks. AmmoToGo.com has its customers’ interests at heart and it shows with this announcement.
