USA – -(Ammoland.com)- The Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Central Midwest Conference Championships took place the weekend of, Oct. 4–5, at the St. Louis Skeet and Trap Club in Pacific, Mo.
ACUI invited local high school juniors and seniors to shoot in a High School Division. The high school students from Arnold Junior Shooters and the Attica Jr-Sr High School Trap Team shot alongside college students from colleges and universities in six surrounding states.
High school students and their families were able to speak with collegiate coaches and learn more about shooting at the collegiate level. ACUI awarded endowment money for college team High Overall ($7500), Runner up ($5000), and Third Place ($3000). All total ACUI gave out $85,250 in endowment funds. All funds were deposited in the teams’ accounts at the MidwayUSA Foundation.
Drew Lieske, from Hillsdale College, scored a 92 to win men’s college sporting clays. Casey VanSant, Nick Boerboon, and Andrew Feig, all from Lindenwood University, tied for second and third with scores of 88. In the ensuing shoot-off, VanSant took second place, scoring an additional 12 targets, and Boerboon placed third with an additional 10 targets. In the women’s division, Lindenwood University teammates Jordan Brown, Emily Stuchell, and Morgan Craft swept the competition with scores of 80, 75, and 74 respectively.
In the college men’s American skeet competition Nick Boerboon, missed just one target and took first place with a score of 99. Drew Lieske, Hillsdale College, took second with a score of 98. In a four-way shoot-off for third place, the University of Missouri’s Nathan Walls (97+16), beat out Henry Duwe (97+15) University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Remington Ludwig (97+9) Lindenwood University, and Kevin Gruetzner (97+6) Lindenwood University. The women of Lindenwood University again swept the field in American Skeet. Morgan Craft took first with a score of 98. Jordan Brown placed second, scoring 93, and Christina MacMillan placed third with a score of 91.
In the women’s trap competition, Jordan Brown beat out teammate Morgan Craft in the shoot-out for first place, scoring 94+25 to Craft’s 94+24. Anna Pfaff from Hillsdale College missed the shoot-off by just one target, scoring a 93. The men’s division also saw a tie for first place. Alexander Dupre, Lindenwood University, and Jordan Hintz, Hillsdale College, both had perfect days on the trap field, scoring 100 straight targets. Facing an 8-hour drive home, the Hillsdale team left before shoot-offs, giving the win to Dupre. Third place went to Ben DeHart, from Lindenwood University, who scored 98+24 in the shoot-off over teammate Myles Walker.
In the High School division of trap shooting, Brian Parks from the Arnold Junior Shooters placed first with a score of 97. Jacob Wilson, from Arnold Junior Shooters placed second with a score of 94+25 after tying Will Hargan from Attica Jr-Sr High School Trap Team who score 94+24. For the women, Emily Whistler from Attica Jr-Senior High School Trap Team took first place with a score of 72.
Jordan Brown from Lindenwood University won the women’s college High Overall award with a score of 267. With a score of 284, the men’s college High Overall award went to Drew Lieske from Hillsdale College.
Lindenwood University completed their weekend by taking the college team High Overall award with a score of 1368. Runner Up was awarded to Hillsdale College with a total score of 1351. Finally, the Third Place team was the University of Missouri with a combined score of 1279.
