Washington DC – -(Ammoland.com)- On December 18th 2013 A&E suspended Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson “indefinitely” for comments he made regarding his views on homosexuality, adultery and sin.
The comments came during an interview appearing in the January issue of GQ magazine.
According to the Chicago Tribune, A&E released the following statement in response: “We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty.”
Robertson’s comments consisted of recitation of 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 from the Bible: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers — they won’t inherit the kingdom of God.” He added, “Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”
Robertson also borrowed from the apostle Paul to argue that homosexuality “morphs” into baser things — like “bestiality.”
Robertson is arguably the biggest star on the biggest show on television. Even though his comments “are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty,” A&E yanked him from the show.
