USA -(Ammoland.com)- Scott Greene knocked off Nick Atkinson, in a come-from-behind victory, to win his first 3GN Pro Series event, taking home $1,000 for his Shoot-Off win in Texas recently.
After suffering a shotgun jam during their first bout, to which Atkinson cruised to the win, Greene battled back to narrowly beat Atkinson at the stop plate, not once, but twice, in a true comeback win.
Each of the final two runs saw both competitors engaging the stop plate simultaneously, and in the final run Atkinson’s plate fell just a split second after Greene’s in exciting fashion.
Stage 1 began with Shaun Oleksy opening the shooting for the night with a solid effort and a time of 25.04. Greene followed with the fastest time of the night, a smooth run in a time of 21.01.
Atkinson was next, putting up the second fastest run on Stage 1, his time of 22.25 sending him to the Shoot-Off.
Keane Brown (23.48) and Jason Tielke (24.71) were close, before Keith Garcia (30.27) suffered a jam, sending all three competitors to the Eliminator with Oleksy.
There, Brown, by virtue of having the top time, chose the shotgun, an array of eight clay targets, and a long sprint for this single-gun challenge. Garcia opened with an impressive 8.46, before Oleksy topped it with a time of 8.07. Tielke then eliminated Garcia with a time of 8.22, before Brown’s final run of 8.15 sent Tielke home, as Brown and Oleksy advanced to the Shoot-Off.
In the semi-finals, Green defeated Oleksy before Atkinson knocked off Brown, setting up the final matchup of Greene versus Atkinson. For advancing into the final round, both Greene and Atkinson qualify for the season-ending 3GN Pro Series Championship.
