A one-of-a-kind experience featuring day or nighttime courses, faster stages, and faster scoring to shoot five stages in less than four hours.
ONTARIO, California – -(Ammoland.com)- Safariland announced today the second annual Safariland Expedition Multi-Gun Match, a four-day competition, June 7 – 10, at the Pro Gun Club in Boulder City, Nev. Testing shooters’ skills through an innovative format with faster stages and scoring, the Safariland Expedition is an exciting 15-stage event where squads can shoot five stages in under four hours. New for this year is a Pistol-Only division for Open, Limited, Production and Carry Optics. More than 200 shooters have already signed up for this exciting event and there is still time to register for the event.
“This year’s event will be even more memorable than our inaugural event last year, as we are dedicating it to our good friend and former Team Safariland member, Michael Voigt, who lost his battle with cancer recently,” said Scott Carnahan, vice president and general manager for duty gear at Safariland. “Michael was such a big part of developing this match, it felt right to remember him this way.”
The standard stages will be back, and shooters can compete in the Tac, Limited, Heavy, Open, PCC (with one PCC gun), 2 Gun (with a rifle/pistol), and 2×4 (two guns per stage using a Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun or PCC) division. This year’s new Pistol-Only division for Open, Limited minor, Production and Carry Optics includes 12 stages in two days. Over the course of the four-day match, competitors can choose to shoot in multiple divisions. This fast paced event also has an option for entrants to shoot the same matches in the dark.
“They always say everything gets hotter when the sun goes down and I’ll tell you right now, this match is proof of that,” said professional shooter and winner of the 2017 Safariland Expedition Dark Tactical Division John McClain about shooting stages at night last year. “Everyone was tired, but I didn’t see a single frown. This was absolutely the most fun I’ve had at a match. Super fast. Super quick. There’s something for everyone!”
The Safariland Expedition is different than any other competition.
By giving competitors the opportunity to shoot the same match in two divisions at the same time, they are able to choose which guns they want to shoot at each stage. The course stages were designed by seasoned Match Director Pete Rensing, a 31-year shooting veteran, who has been shooting USPSA competitive events for the last eight.
“We’re excited to amp-up the energy even more this year,” said Match Director Pete Rensing. “With Safariland’s support, we’ve been testing and evolving this new style and are ready to unveil a ton of new features!”
“This shooter’s choice match is everything it’s billed and so much more,” said Carnahan. “The inventive competition runs at a fast and furious pace and is designed to keep the competition moving. We can’t wait to see what Pete’s expertise and creativity bring to the desert this year.”
