Indiana -(AmmoLand.com)- What an atmosphere we have here in America with our presidential campaigns and even some state and local election campaigns!
By virtue of the instant worldwide internet communications the whole world can watch the spectacle. It seems as though most often the blame is placed on the candidates, but I don’t believe they are entirely to blame.
I think much of the fault goes to the media that covers and reports on the elections. The presidential debates that have been broadcast appear more like a tabloid television show. Instead of questions about policies, the questions are about “he said she said” foolishness.
The panels for these debates are comprised of all people, news related personalities. This is incredible and what’s worse is that both political parties and their candidates agree to go on stage to participate in the foolery.
Wouldn’t it be more appropriate for example, to have a panel made up of let’s say a well respected economist to ask questions about the debt and financial matters? Perhaps a high level military officer to pose questions about military funding and war strategies and a highly respected doctor or surgeon to ask about health care issues. Also, a qualified educator and representative from labor and business on those respective issues who could submit legitimate questions would be a more appropriate panelist.
Those panels could consist of different qualified people of different backgrounds for other debates. But why would individuals from a news agency who could potentially be biased to drive the debates to become sensationalized instead of informative be the ones asking the questions?
