Pierre, SD -(Ammoland.com)- The 2015 South Dakota mountain lion hunting season opens on Dec. 26, 2014, in the Black Hills Fire Protection District.
The season will conclude on March 31, 2015, or if either the harvest limit of 75 total mountain lions, or 50 female lions, is reached prior to that date. The mountain lion hunting season outside of the Black Hills Fire Protection District runs year-round and lions harvested in these areas do not count towards the Black Hills harvest limits.
All harvested mountain lions (statewide) must be presented to a South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (SDGFP) representative for inspection within 24 hours of harvest. Routine harvest updates will be reported via email, mobile app, Facebook, Twitter and on the GFP website throughout the Black Hills season. Follow us on social media, download the GFP app, sign up for our email distribution list, visit gfp.sd.gov or call 1.866.895.9067 for status updates.
Unlimited licenses for the mountain lion hunting season can be obtained electronically through our website. The direct link to harvest status updates can be found here.
