USA –-(Ammoland.com)- Time is running out for competitors interested in signing up and competing in one of the 2012 3-Gun Nation “Outlaw” division races.
April 30 will be the final day competitors can sign up online—after that day, the Memberships tab will be disabled for active competition memberships for the season.
All memberships from now until closing will include scores earned at both Superstition Mountain Mystery 3-Gun and Larue-Texas Multi-Gun Championships.
The 2012 3GN divisional races include most major Outlaw 3-gun matches and run through October 2012. For a full list of participating matches and accompanying rules, go to http://3gunnation.com/the_series/rules.
2012 3GN Competition Memberships
For those not interested in joining and competing in a 3GN Outlaw Series, then there is nothing you need to do. The 3GN Programs will not affect your registration, match, or prize table in any way. These are additional, optional pay-to-play competitive series, placing 3-gunners from major 3-gun matches across the country in one of five distinct categories, providing a 3GN points race for every skill level and ability.
3GN Divisional Series, Presented by Hornady
The 3GN Divisional Series is for the very best 3-gunners in the country. A continuation of last year’s series sponsored by Hornday, the 3GN Divisional Series will name the “Shooter of the Year” in five different equipment divisions: Tactical Optics, Open, Tactical Iron, Heavy Metal and Heavy Metal Optics. Also, the top five competitors in each division at the end of the season will be invited to shoot in the 3GN Pro Series Qualification Match.
Just like last year, the Divisional Series was developed to reward sustained performance over the course of a season in each division—to determine the top shooter in each equipment division. The Pro Series developed after the debut of the Divisional Series last season. To give more shooters a chance to play, 3GN launched two (2) additional levels to the 3GN Outlaw Series—Semi-Pro and Amateur.
3GN Semi-Pro Series, presented by Stag Arms
Developed for experienced 3-gunners not interested in competing on the 3GN Pro tour, 3GN anticipates this will be a highly competitive series, with many sponsored and non-sponsored shooters alike battling for series points. A prize program guarantees a Stag 3G rifle to the overall points leader at the end of the season, plus the top four competitors will be invited to Las Vegas for a chance to win the 3GN Semi-Pro Shoot-Off and $5,000! In addition, the top 25 Semi-Pros at the end of the season will earn an invitation to compete in the 3GN Pro Series Qualification Match.
3GN Amateur Series, presented by Stag Arms
The Amateur points series was developed as a place where newer 3-gunners could compete for points and compare against other beginning 3-gunners instead of elite shooters. The goal of this division is to foster continued participation by shooters that are just getting into the game. As such, a prize program is currently being developed, with the Amateur points leader at the end of the season guaranteed a 3G rifle from Stag Arms.
By design, 3GN estimated most Amateurs to be shooters that consistently shoot 40-50% and below at major matches. Semi-Pro is designed for competitors with a higher skill set. But 3GN isn’t mandating that any 3-gunner compete in any particular division based on past performance. Competitors are free to decide which division fits them best, then see how they stack up against 3-gunners from across the country.
3GN Lady & Junior Divisions
The 3GN Lady and 3GN Junior division point races also return in 2012, with Hornady sponsoring a $5,000 first place prize for the winner of each category. In 2012, the 3GN Junior Division Champion will be decided only by series points. Meanwhile, the top prize for the Ladies will be decided during the 3GN Lady Shoot-Off in Las Vegas during the 2013 3GN Finale.
3GN Lady and Junior competitors are also eligible to compete in either the 3GN Divisional, Semi-Pro OR Amateur Series at their option.
