Two Chicago area juveniles are facing charges after they threatened violence at Maine South High School Monday morning.
Authorities say they learned of the threat around 6:30 a.m. after a concerned citizen alerted them to a social media post showing the kids with guns.
Authorities acted quickly and were able to identify and locate the suspects, who are 12 and 15 years old, as well as three guns in their possession. At least one of the guns was confirmed to be one displayed in the social media post.
The young suspects are being held at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center, both charged with unlawful use of a weapon and disorderly conduct.
Authorities do not believe anyone else was involved in the threat.
