Seventeen people were arrested in various locations in France Monday for the parts they played in the October armed robbery of reality TV star Kim Kardashian.
Authorities used DNA evidence collected at the scene to track down at least some of the suspects. Police confirmed that the group, which included three women, are well-known members of organized crime. One of the suspects is said to have been Kardashian’s acting chauffeur who drove her around Paris in the days leading up to the robbery.
Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in her swanky Paris apartment in October while attending Fashion Week. The 36-year-old was tied up while the suspects, who gained entry by disguising themselves as police officers, stole more than $10 million in jewelry.
Kardashian was physically uninjured during the incident but left emotionally distraught. In fact, following the robbery, the fashion mogul who is infamous for her sometimes risqué selfies, took a three-month hiatus from social media, returning just last week.
Kardashian’s lawyer, Jean Veil, said her client is “very happy, very satisfied and to a certain extent reassured by the efficiency of the French police.”
